w210 foglight wiring

hi all,
my w210 fogs h1's keep melting into their 'plugs' after about 100 hrs of use. this has occured with both oem and aftermarket (philips) correct wattage bulbs. the dlr has replaced plugs and even entire foglight assemblies in past.
has anyone gotten fed up enough with constant foglight failures, enough to consider installing more 'robust ' wiring and plugs?

or has anyone just unhooked the entire foglight systen at the switch, and run in aftermarket fogs to the dash switch?

i may wish to do that if possible, as there is room in the recessed areas of the lower front spolier of these cars. would use a shop to install, as i am no tech. (as if you couldnt tell).
thanks , john.

hi gilly,
yes i did inquire about the tsb. the dealer is being their usual vague self on these things. i have the car in there today, so i will ask more persistently on it. i am unfamiliar with the reference you gave 'gp82' and 'netstar' , so i couldnt pretend i knew what i was talking about. any quick primer on that jargon?
thanks , john

Netstar is a computerized database available to the dealers, all the TSB's and so forth are available to them there, even the service writers should be able to do a search on it.

Group 82 relates to what service group this topic would be found in on Netstar. Group 01 for example is engine block and head, group 20 is cooling system, etc etc. The foglight (exterior lighting) is in group 82.

If you continue to run into an info roadblock, let me know.

thank you gilly, thats a great help.
i do still have curiosity about running projector fogs on the car, as a unique mod , so i hope this thread will generate some ideas on that too.
