In the last few months, I've replaced pads on my 83 300SD and then on my 93 300E 2.8. The 300SD pads squeeled so loudly, within a day of installation, that the mechnanic replaced them instantly. The 300E pads have been squeeling intermittantly and I'm about to bring it back. Squeeling is high pitched, under light braking. I've never seen this problem this often, and my 300SD eats pads. Anyone else having problems recently with Mercedes pads? Has Mercedes, perhaps, changed something recently?

Did the mechanic correctly install the pads using anti-squeal paste?
Look at our DIY brake pad article and you will see the paste I am referring to.

It's the same mechanic who's done many a pad replacement for me before, and he is quite knowledgeable on the car. So I would expect he did, but I will ask. Sounds like you've noticed no problem of late.
Thanks,
Eric

When you state OEM quality, are they purchached from MB dealer. There are many pads that say OE quality but only 3 companies make OE pads (Textar, Pagid, Jurid)but not all pads from these companies are OE pads. Even at dealer our #1 complaint is brake noises, except durning A/C season.
