Hesitation on harder acceleration
 

Hi folks,

on my 190e 2.3 I have a hesitation when i am accelerating kind of hard. It is not present from a stop and under light acceleration.

It only seems to appear when i put the pedal about 3/4 of the way down for an acceleration.

Anyone ever encounter this?

and i think few folks found the OVP relay to be the culprit while others were talking about replacing their Fuel pressure regulator. You may want to do a search and get better ideas. Hope this helps.

I've got the same symptems.
Not solved it yet. I've replaced ignition leads, spark plugs and fuel filter.
The spark leads tend to last about 10 years for originals, check to see if they look old. Also check the distributor cap for cracks.
The fuel filter is a 3year service part I think so you could see how old it looks. Its under the car behind a plastic shield near the back.
The other thing to check is the fuel pump or fuel pump relay, it seems the fuel pumps can cause intermittent problems.
If the problem is worse with a nearly empty gas tank its probably a fuel supply problem.

Interestingly enough the problem is gone, for now. I didnt do anything though.

The sparkplugs are only 2 months old, sparkplug wires distributer cap and fuel filter are all about 10 months old. Sounds like this could be an intermittent fuel pump problem maybe, or fuel pressure regulator as Joseph_H mentioned.

I will have to get under there and check it out. Maybe the wires are corroded and sometimes arent carrying the current they should be to the fuel pump? How can I diagnose the fuel pump?

I dont think the wires would be corroded as the contacts are under little rubber covers, then the whole fuel pump is under another cover.

There seems to be a problem with the relay that controls the fuel pump. The solder joints can go bad causing intermitent problems. I did a quick search on Google and it seems Bosch relays often have this problem, on Volvos etc.

Unfortunaltly on my car the relay is behind the ECU and ABS computers which are in turn behind the battery, so not easy to get at! Should be easy to repair though.
