I did a search and couldn't find an answer to my specific question.

When trying to remove the front brake rotors on a 300E, do you have to first remove the two roll pins or do you just whack away at the rotor to get it out.

Roll pins? Rotor is held on by the lug bolts and a 6mm allen flathead screw (or two?).

You must remove the caliper -- two bolts in the back -- and hang it out of the way. You may be able to remove the floating side of the caliper, I'll check on the CD and see. Normal procedure is to remove the caliper as far as I know.

Rotor may be stuck, the rears usually are, terribly!

I have removed the caiper and it is out of the way completely. I have also removed the little allen flat head screw that holds the rotor in. Apart from that, there are two roll pins to orient the front rotor.

I am just wondering if they need to be removed/knocked out to facilitate the rotor to come off.

Hello all,
Im trying to pull the rear rotors on my 190e right now....very stuck! does anyone know of a trick? besides having to resort to wailing on it with a mallet that is? I pulled the little 6mm thing, released the brake, sprayed points of contact with penetrant (carefully) Any help is appreciated.

I got my rotors out.

Followed an excellent technique that was posted by Hassman.

After soaking the rotors with penetrating oil, i just hit the face of the rotor that mates with the wheel (i.e. the flat face that has the five holes for the lug nuts) with a hammer less than 10 times (each hit spaced approximately 60 degrees) and the rotor came off the hub very easily. And I didn't have to hit it real hard either.

Had I known this technique earlier, I would have saved a lot of aggravation when I was trying to remove my rear rotors this summer.

yeah, those rear rotors stick terribly. The hammer trick didn't work on the 300D, nor did heating the rotor with a torch. I ended up boring out the torque link to take the old sleeve and bolt as the new one wouldn't go in the hole in the wheel carrier with the backing plate on, and I couldn't get the stinking rotor off!. We'll see what happen on the other side this winter.
