Hi everyone. Have an 87 that will not idle. Just stalls out. If you try to hold it at a steady rpm (1000 - 1500) it surges a few hundred rpm. At high rpm and engine speed seems to have a slight miss and be down on power. I think it might be fuel related. Any suggestions? Thinking about checking the system pressure. Any other areas to look at? Thank you in advance. Tinker

It sounds like you are in limp mode. First check the overvoltage relay. Have you had battery problems or jump started the car lately? If so, the fuse is most likely blown. Check the relay and the fuse. It is behind the battery behind the black cover.

Benzmac, I did replace the battery about four weeks ago. The old battery had a bad cell that looked fried. I have seen other posts concerning this OVP relay. Is this a common problem? Thanks again.

I checked the OV fuses/relay, it has two 10 amp.fuses on top. Both fuses are o.k.. Could this relay still be the problem?

The relay has gone south more than likely. I would replace it and see what happens from there.
