Electro Hydraulic Actautor

Makes fuel pressures "changes" on the lower section of the fuel distributor.

The lower the Lower chamber fuel pressure vs System pressure the RICHER the fuel mixture.

Just wanted to add my information to the database here. I had been having a cold start problem with my 1988 190 2.3. Every morning it was hard to start but the rest of the day it would start ok. It turned out that it was in fact the coolant temperature sensor that had gone bad. This is a great site thanks.

I have this problem too - can you remind me which one is the coolant temperature sensor?

How did you test it was faulty? I've always meant to look at my early morning starting 'stumbling' but never have the time..

Does your engine now idle when cold somewhat above the usual 750rpm, whereas it didn't before?

thanks

Russ

The coolant temp sensor is located at the front of the valve cover just to right hand side (as you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine). It is a black plug like thing where when you pull if off it has 4 or 5 pin holes inside of it. I think you can test it with an ohmmeter but I just replaced the part to see if that would help - it did. Before replacing the part the car did idle when warm at about 1000 rpm, when it used to idle at about 750rpm. I will have to take a look at what it is doing now and post it.
