rear shocks

I am replacing the rear shcok on a 94 E320 sedan. If I read the instructions contained in the CD correctly, I must remove the top fastener (in the trunk) while the car's weight is on the suspension. Then the car can be raised to get access to the bottom bolt. It appears that this operation must also be performed with the spring loaded, ie.e the car raised by lifting the wheel or the under the control arm, not by raising the body and allowing the wheel to droop. Is this correct?

regards,
Mark

Mark,
I just replaced my shocks and struts on my 93' 300E, and was no big deal. I did in fact "raise" one side at a time for the rear shocks. Then i would support the a-arm with a jack, as to keeping the spring compressed. And i had no problems getting to or loosening the bolts in the trunk. First side took maybe 45 minutes going slow, and being careful. Second side took maybe 30 minutes. Wrestling thr trunk liner can be a hassle.

I did Bilstein HD's on all 4 corners and love it. The ride is great, and overall handling is tighter, and feels great.

Good luck.
