Looks like the story we're being given here in Detroit about some pipeline break between Chicago and Detroit is alot of CRAP.

Just found a place today where I can fill my beloved diesel for the low, low price of only $1.39 per gallon. Guess I'll just have to park the 500sel in a different place from time to time so that the neighbors THINK I can afford to drive it.

Does Mercedes make bicycles?

Yup, Mercedes makes (or has made for them) 4 levels of mountain bikes, including articulated frames. No road bikes that I know of. I saw them in the Star, and I believe they are on the Mercedes homepage.

I think I smell sarcasm.

You could always opt for one of those pedal cars. Paul

Just paid $1.83 for 92 Octane south of Boston this weekend. When I had my 300CD it was so much cheaper not anymore! Here's to the good old days!

I'm in Eastern Pennsylvania, and average fuel prices are around $1.50 for unleaded 87, $1.60 for 89, and $1.70 for 93 octane gas. Diesel I last got for $1.549, and it's held steady while the cheapest unleaded gas (Hess) in the area went from $1.379 to $1.479. Of course I do remember the sticker shock last winter watching diesel go from $1.399 to $2.299...

I feel for everyone out there! Mobile has 86 @ 1.29, and 92 @ 1.51. I think it is the lowest in the country right now. Must be because no one drives in this heat! I think I will take my machine out for a spin and fill up just in case

Paul and Frankie:
No sarcasm intended! Go to the mbusa accessories page at http://www.mercedescollection.com/index.html and you will find the phone number to call for the MB bike and clothing catalog! It is currently being revamped, but used to have the bikes on the page! Alternatively, look on page 11 of the May/June Star for a description and photo of one of the MB bikes.

I filled up (the Bonniville) last night in the suburbs with 87 octane for $2.09/gal but here in Chicago $2.16 is common and the 93 octane for the Benz is about $2.30. There is an investigation pending for price gouging.

I still drive wherever I want in the 500 but it does make a difference. We have a Honda Del Sol and it seems to be vehicle of choice for longer trips.

Here in upper Wisconsin 87 octane goes for $1.93 and premium is $2.03. I think that it is price gouging all those Illinois tourists that are coming up here in the summer time that causes it. After all, they are from Chicago and have plenty of money, right?

Canada is looking better all the time. Will still enjoy the convertible when the weather is right!

Now Now iozero, I am driving to the Northwoods next month in the Suburban. Don't be telling me you're paying more than here in So Cal. You're killing me, that Suburban gets thirsty, as thirsty as my 4.5, just a way bigger tank.

well, fellas! It's been a week now and the prices haven't gone down. Now most of the stations are running low on gas and by 8pm each day they are out of fuel. Looks like the crap about a pipeline break is just that -- CRAP! Sounds like the prices are high in Chicago too.

They definitely need to do an investigation to see about price gouging. We (the consumers) are being taken to the cleaners.

look like we get the cheapest out of you lot ! I pay US$ 1.08 a gallon for unleaded at the pumps here in sunny Dubai. It is actually cheaper than bottled water, well nearly. It makes running a 500 SEL and a 190 E quite painless really. But it's true, I heard it's nearly £4 a gallon back in England, Wow !
