99' E320 Wagon - Buy or pass on it
 

Hello,
I am thinking of replacing my 1994 E420 with a 1999 E320 wagon.
The 320 has 55k on it and appears to be maintained perfectly according to the records. It's a one owner trader. Does anyone know of any issue with this particular year?

Read the crankshaft balnce failure - I forgot as to whether this applies to this engine or not but other than that it has a very good reputation so far. Is it a 4Matic? Are you going through a dealer to get it?

It's not a 4-matic. The car is Starmarked to 100k at the local MBZ dealership. Is there a certain series of engine numbers that have the balancing issue? How do I find this out? Otherwise the car is VERY clean and always serviced at the benz dealship.

We have the '99 E320 4matic wagon and so far its been a great vehicle for our family.
The kids love the rear facing third row seats with their own cupholders!
Harmonic balancer has not showed signs of fatigue but there's only 35,000 miles on it.
Window regulators and oil level sensor replaced under warranty.
Great Home Depot hauler. Over 83 cu.ft of cargo room with the 2nd and third row seats folded.

I Own a 2000 W210 Wagon and Love It!w 30k on it
I Have added Comand,euro xeons,Heated/multicontour and Cooled front seats,folding mirrors E55 Estate body kit E55 Rims
and LOTS of other goodies...
Please have a Pre purchase Inspection done!
Run a VMI report at the dealer
Special att to A/C,Front seat frames,Rear Shocks,front lower control arm bushings,Trans..I Would service the trans!
and Inspect for any gold dust in the pan.
The late W210s are a Great car..most problems gone!
