my 1985 500sel euro the front seals on the tranny are bad and im comminh up on a tunn up and every thing what would the best thing to do to my tranny's problem jst fix the seal or have it rebuilt

If the tranny has over 150k miles then I would rebuild it. The rubber that is failing for one seal is the same age as all the other seals inside and out.

Proper front seal replacement including the pump O-ring require partial disassembly anyway. Right at about half the labor to do the whole thing. Its like rolling the dice. Odds are it will be apart within 50-75k for something else if not sonner.

i have only had to do work on it to see that the seals were leaking and that is the only work iv ever done is this also normal

Front seals do leak, yes it is common.

If the tranny is shifting well, I'd do the front pump reseal with a rear main seal while there and let it roll.

the only problem it leaks a liitle tranny fluid i refill and it runs fine
