I noticed that the black case which houses the the instrument cluster sticks out a bit past the blue dashboard that it sits in. It only sticks out farther at the top, the sides and the bottom appear to be fine. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

My 300D dash/instrument cluster is the same way. As the cluster is just a pressure fit ino the dash, this seems typical although you could try to gently press it in a bit further to see if it will be flush.

I don't remember having one that fit flush in a 123 car.

Good luck,
