Tight Rotors? Brake Shoes 300e
I am replacing the rotors, pads, parking brake shoes on my 90 300E I used ATE 24.0109-0118.1 rotors and Bilstein 2100 parking brake set. When I try to put the rotors on, they are very tight to the shoes. Have loosened the cable and the sho ends are to their minimum with adjuster in shortest and cable end of shoes as closed as possible. Cable is loose and moves freely from adjuster nut above driveshaft.
Could it be that my rotors are wrong size or shoes wrong? I have double checked the parts against the old ones and seem to be ok?? Frustrated!!!! HELP. Sam __________________ Sam Draper :( :( :( |
i'm not sure if i understand correctly, but have you spread the pistons apart back into the calipers?

My problem is the parking brake shoes and the rotors. I have released the parking brake cable and replaced all parts of the shoe replacement kit the same as original but the shoes are rubbing on the rotors when I try to install them. Cannot get the rotors over the shoes. Have cleaned everything, maybe next thing to do is remove it all and reinstall. Both sides are the same problem.

Make sure you have the mechanism that opens the brake shoes to engage the parking brake installed correctly. If that little piece is not installed correctly, it will lead to the problems that you mentioned.
Good luck. |
Did you clean all the packed-in debris from the groove where the pad sits? This should be done with a wire brush.

Thanks for the input guys...will get back to them this AM. SAM
