Importation of ML from Overseas
In 2001 we bought a 01 ML 320 here in Saudi Arabia. I checked with the local factory authorized dealer who said that I could take it back to the states (NV). Not being one to trust dealers, I contacted MBUSA with the VIN and they could not id the vehicle. I then contacted MB diplomatic sales in Berlin and they said I should sell the vehicle and buy another one in the states. They also told me that the vehicle was built in the AL plant.
Does anyone know what is required to make the car stateside legal. From what the dealer told me all that needs to be done is change out the gauge cluster as it reads in KMH and temp is C not F. The VIN is WDCAB54E1A223973 we would love to bring this car back with us to the states. |

Lookat this site. I am pretty sure you do not want to do it--big $ and headaches. Sell it and buy new here.

Something else to think about: What does this ML have that a US model does not? If this one had something really awesome or unique that you cannot get over here, it might be worth the money and hassle. But if you just sell this one, and buy one over here and have exactly the same thing (for all intents and purposes), what would be the reason for wanting to do this? I guess one could look at it as a cost/hassle/benefit analysis.
