My brother in law drives a W140 chasis, and of late, I've been very interested in his car key mechanism. It has that "box" shape with the alarm built into it, and you push a button and the key shoots out. I've noticed that both his key and my main key are similiar looking, shape, length, etc. The only thing is, is that he has the mechanism. Is there a way where I can go into my MB dealer, and ask them to make me a key with that box shape mechanism. I dont really care about the alarm. I just like the way it looks, and feels in your pocket. You dont have to worry about the key poking you in the pants, and it has a nice feel to it. Or if Partsshop is willing to make me one, I would purchase.

Please post when you find a solution...I have
a hard enough time keeping up with the one shop in town (besides the dealer) who will cut keys for my 190e. - John ------------------ John J. Meadows '83 300D 260k mi. '85 190E 2.3L 99k mi. |
VW and Audi have similar keys. If you strike out with MB, maybe another make dealer has the equipment to cut a key for you and put it in a flip-out box. If you have multiple dealers in the area, it may be necessary to try them all. Only one of my 3 local MB dealers has key cutting equipment. The other 2 order keys from some far-off land.
