Ya have to be careful with that rotor driver or you'll busticate it.
If you got the allen screw out and it won't come out, spray it with WD-40 or some kind of penetrant oil and tap on it with a plastic hammer to allow it to soak in for 15 minutes or so, then try working in in and out by hand or SLIGHTLY prying with a prybar, and I do mean SLIGHTLY. Try it by hand first.

Any fuel pressure abnormalities should have been check on all this diagnosis you paid for. You spent alot of money on diagnosis and they had no clue as to what's going on?

The fuel pump relay could be checked by simply driving it with the relay bypassed (hotwiring the relay).

Lot's of time the ignition coil will break down under heat loads, so that's one thing they could have thought of checking.

I like Joe's and tecboys ideas. On the EGR you could simply inplug the vacuum line for the valve and plug the end of the vac hose and see if it seems to be fixed.

Bad EHA?

I am having the same problem with hesitation during warm-up and think the EHA might be the culprit (it leaks a little). Is there any way to test a EHA valve?

joints

If you are thinking of resoldering the joints of the fuel pump relay, it can be taken apart without any damage, I did this on my car and it fixed a different problem for a certain amount of time, but in your case, I would not say that is it. Hotwire it and see what happens. If you still want to open it, use a flat screwdriver and lift up the plastic, there is even places where you can do that, then just slide it out. nothing to it really.

If the Distributor Rotor Adapter gets really screwed up, our friends at Fastlane have it for $12.56, depending on the model car.

This is what it looks like:

That's called the rotor bracket, and you have to be careful about that (usually need the engine number), as there are several different designs of those.

Cool 300E reply

Hello Mike,
MB sells an " Oil Kit" for this engine.
When you remove the cap and rotor Check for cracks and wear. There is a plate under the rotor. Remove the socket head cap screw, apply some penatrating oil and using a plastic mallet tap the plate untill it comes off. The plate is keyed so dont sweet the positiion. Pry out the supressor cover and "o" ring. The "o" ring resides between the plate and cap. Note the seal behind the supressor cover.
This is where the "oil kit" comes in. There are several attaching bolts .......remove the front Camshaft plate. The cam seal dries out causing oil to leak into the distributor cap. Shorting out the ingnition system. E-mail me for pictures. Replace this seal. Also there is a Flat gasket at the bottom of the casting that needs to be replaced. Note that the sides have no gasket. This is a machine fit. I wiped a thin film of silicone sealer on the surface anyway. Replace the valve cover gasket as well This all takes about 45 miniutes.
By the way ......I bought my car below wholesale because the dealer thought the engine was bad.!!

87 300E's, with the 3.L, 1.9L did not have an EGR.
