w126 driver's door window regulator

I have a very similar problem that this person had: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/21415-w126-window-problem-not-sliding-jaw.html?highlight=window+regulator+w126

During summer, I found that the last few teeth on the regulator are worn off and that caused the problem. I have the regulator coming on the way to replace it. This is where I have my question. How do I replace this regulator? How many bolts in totla do I remove? should the window be up or down? etc.

Please try to be as specific as possible, so I wouldn't be confused half way into the task. Thanks for any replies. :D

Once you pull the panel it is pretty straight forward. The '84 panel is removed in the upward/outward position and I would assume yours does too. If I remember correctly there are 3 each 10 mm fasteners that hold the regulator to the door panel. Take your time with it and you will be ok. Make sure you get some plastic vapor barrier back in place prior to installing the panel.

Jim.. so I just unbolt/unscrew the 3 fastners and the entire thing slides out??? I feel that there is probably more to do than just unbolt three fastners to remove and replace a window regulator. Please let me know.. thanks

The bottom piece that actually makes the window move up/down will need to be slid out. You will see how it works when you get in there to it. You have to work with the regulator to ease it out through the opening.
