e320 spark plugs
Hello All, I need a knowlege transfer concerning the spark plugs in my E 320, V6. Two things this engine has 12 plugs. I bought Bosche 4 pole platinum plugs from Auto Zone, they gave me 6, but now I look at the engine and it has 2 per cyl. please confirm. Also I have tried to pull the leads off of the plugs and they will not come loose. I don't want to break the old plugs off in the block. Is there a catrch release I can not see? The plugs are buried on both heads. The leads from the coils go a long way down the heads.
Please help, has any one done these before, I need advice before I break something. |

Also, don't know how much room there is to work around the V6, but on the V8, its a lot easier if you remove the ignition coils as well. You'll have a lot more room to work with.

Thise plugs are Ok and engine run perfectly. I used a 17 mm open wremch also to remove boots. Take your time to remnove the old one..........4h for me to chenge 16 plugs... A decent pair of plug wire pliers work for pulling the plug ends too. They have angled, padded jaws for gripping. Try rotating the plug end a little bit to break the seal. As stated earlier, removing the coil packs makes for a bit more working room.
It's equally important to get the plug ends seated when reinstalling. Takes a good push, you need to hear a solid snap as it locks into place. Oh, and each plug connects to a specific port on each coil pack. They are labeled "A" & "B" (I think...been a while) on the coil packs and each cylinder. Each plug is fired at a different time, so if you get them backwards the engine might run in an interesting manner... 'Bout 90 minutes on a 6 cylinder 210 for a decent DIYer. - JimY |
