Hello, I am about to buy a W115 300D It is registered in Hungary as a 1978 Is it possible that they made one that year? Secondly the car I am looking at has a compression loss in the first two cylinders of 20 and around 24 in the rest, Is this still acceptable or what is? Thank you

A w115 car wouldn't have been made in 1978. They were built from 1968 to 1976. Only the 107 chassis (built from the 115 chassis) continued past 1976.
Your compression varies by more than 10% so it is significant. ------------------ Steve Brotherton Owner 24 bay BSC Bosch Master, ASE master L1 26 years MB technician |

Steve, once again is correct.
I just thought I should mention that the 78 300D is a W123 body style, just in case.... ------------------ William 76 240D - 550K miles 78 300D - 200K+ miles |
