124 center blower/fan not working

I have no air coming out of my vents above the center console, though the side vents are working fine and it sounds like the blower fan in the center is working, there's just no air coming out the vents. Any ideas?

to follow up...

just noticed that the air is coming through the defrost vents too- could it be stuck in this position?
Is there a fuse for this too? I looked in my fuse box and it the blower fuse was 'outside fusebox' but i couldn't see any other fuses. Anyone know where it is?

Do a search using the same terminology you used in your post. I currently have the same problem on a '94 E320. I think it has to do with a diaphram that might require part of the dash to come out to fix.

warm or heated air does not come through the center vent only cold or outside air comes through the center vent. This is the way climate control was designed.

Sounds Like....

Though I could be wrong but it sounds like the vacuum accuators behind the dash have gone out or at least one of them. In my 1988 190e, which I believe is similar in construction to your 300 when this happened, I had to change one of the acuators. Since this requires removing the dash, I changed all three located behind the dash. The parts are inexpensive but the labor is going to kill you!

But before ripping the dash apart, you should check or have checked ( do not remember the name) the cnetral vacuum thing-a-jig which is located (in my car) behind the glove box.

If you do a search on climate control or AC, you will come up with many threads that talk about this in detail. (also, haev chacked teh climate control box - this could also be your problem)

These model and year cars are notorious for this problem/repair.

Listen to Rafi, he is 100% correct. Before you go tearing into anything warm/hot air is not supposed to blow out of the center vents.
