Trying to identify dealer by MBUSA dealer number

Hi,

I recently purchased a '95 E320 wagon from a local dealer and am trying to learn more about the vehicle's history. The salesman gave me the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) which shows all warranty work done on the car. It also lists the dealer that performed the work by dealer number.

Is there somewhere I can find out the dealer's name by that number as well as the work performed by the Damage code? Also, is there some other printout that the dealer can give me which shows routine maintenance like oil changes?

Thanks in advance. This site has already been a great source of information.

Chris, most dealers have a list of current dealer numbers. What is the dealer number you are looking for?
Only that dealer can provide their service history.

M.B.DOC,

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to trace the ownership history of the car. Carfax shows that the car was purchased in New York. The VMI shows the selling dealer to be 55157. The majority of the service over the next five years was then done at dealer number 56118. I guess I'm just hoping that dealer 56118 wasn't in NYC. I always try to stay away from used cars that were driven predominantly in the city, especially New York. Thanks.

Chris

55157 is Silver Star Motors of Long Island
56118 is Country Imported Car of Southampton

Good luck!

M.B. Doc,

That's great. Thank you very much. I am amazed at MB's faith in the car that they Starmarked it when I bought it for an additional three years. The car is now almost ten years old, has never been out of warranty, and will continue to have a factory warranty until December 2006. Is this unusual or am I just easily impressed?
