HELP! Transmission Problems with 1976 230.4

Today I purchased a 1976 230.4 from a private dealer. The car was checked by a local classic Mercedes mechanic who said it needed a few repairs (rear differential but not essential, new shocks, and possible exhaust repairs). Nonetheless, he said the car was in pretty good shape. I also drove it for two days prior to purchasing and had absolutely no problems. However, paying for it this evening it was parked in my driveway for two hours. Upon starting it to move it into its new garage, it refused to be put into any gear. When the engine was off it would go into gear fine, but once the ignition was turned the tranmission wouldn't budge.

Please provide any thoughts! Thank you so much in advance.

Hello,
The clutch hydraulics are dead, have your mechanic look at the clutch master and slave cylinder, either one or both are leaking. Usually happens if the car has not been driven for some time.
Hope that helps
