Some help please,300e ABS trouble caused by alternator
I`ve had the abs play up because of a faulty exciter diode in the alternator, and had the diode pack replaced and it cures the problem, this has happened twice, one year between(coincidence i thought), and both times the replacement of the diode pack has cured the problem. But now it`s happened again six months later, are these diode packs running at their max almost for me to have this happen for the third time, it`s the 80amp heavy duty alt, and the same diode pack as original.

Ok, the progress so far ,is that the auto electrician has replaced the rectifier diode plate now for the third time, i said to him this is outragous, he did`nt chare me for it, but did let the problem slip out , each time he`s replaced the diode plate it`s been with what he calls a 6 x diode plate and that`s the problem, he cannot get the original Bosch 9 x diode plate from Bosch, which he says must be a bit more rugged than the one their giving him.
Can anyone comment on what`s been happening. (a new alternator here in Australia is a whopping $550.00) no thanks! Cheers George |
Can anyone reply on this, an autoelectrician perhaps?

Hello George
Problem: faulty exciter diode in the alternator. Answer: Replace the diode pack. Problem: Replaced the Bosch 9 x diode plate with Bosch 6 x diode plate, multiple Bosch 6 x diode plate failures. Question: Can anyone comment on what’s been happening? Answer: Bosch 6 x diode plate is one third the capacity of the Bosch 9 x diode plate. Solution: Need local source for the Bosch 9 x diode plate or friend to help find one. |
