how do you check the over voltage relay and the fuel pump relay on the 86 190e 16v? could it be checked by any shop or only the dealer? thank you!!

Anyone with Mercedes experience should know the basics of the relays.

The overvoltage relay is power supply for fuel & ABS system computers. Do these systems work? If so do you have an intermittant problem? If so replacing the overvoltage relay might be the correct repair. Same is true of fuel pump relay!

M.B.DOC:

If we have the financial means, is there any reason why we couldn't replace the OVP and Fuel Pump relays as a "preventative" measure?

Thanks!

okay, i called the dealer for a price on the fuel pump relay. it runs for about 160$-but when i gave the part guy the part # for my relay he said that it wasn't a good # >(002 545 36 05) he said my part # should be (002 545 37 05). i want to know if the little difference in the # makes a difference?

<the problem!>--my car dies on me at any speed, but especially more often when the weather is hot or i turn my air conditioner on.....
