won't shift into 4th
Hello...today my transmission would not shift into 4th. Also, it would shift the other gears late. This was city driving....then I took it out on a 60mph highway and shifted it manually from 1st through 4th from stop to 60+. I accelerated decently hard. After this, it acted completely normal even when I retured to city traffic. Shifted fine, went into 4th like nothing ever happend. I checked the fluid (hot, running, in park) and it was spot on.

I have found a lot of older car's transmissions act weird during the winter until warmed up.
One member that was having shifting problems and wondered whether a trans job was in his future, found that one of the rubber vacuum tube connectors was hard and brittle going to the vacuum modulator. Not a bad idea to check the tubes and connections out. The 190e (1987 w/ 220k miles) shifts very firmly cold, but warm is nice and smooth. Haasman

Thanks Haasman, kinda reassuring that it may not be much! Do you think you could describe where all these tubes are? Thanks!
