The reason I think it's the pump or something else serious is because the day the car died it was making a terrible rattling sound, and now when it's running no rattle.
Ok, today I took the oil filter out of the housing and cranked the engine over and no oil came up in the housing.
I also put a new oil filter in, started the car and let it run for about 15 seconds then checked the new filter, and it had no oil on it.
For some reason it seems like I'm not getting any oil circulating through the engine at all.

So, how much am I looking at spending for someone to take the timing cover off, and look at the oil pump and anything else that could be bad?

cr get it towed to a good shop and get them to look at it. I am not sure on the pump configuration on yours but i it is definitely looking like a pump issue if no oil is getting to the filter housing do not drive this car it will sieze if you do.

The statement that the car was making a rattling sound is crucial to this diagnosis. If it ran for a while when it was rattling, there could be a lot more wrong with the engine than an oil pump. You need to come to a preliminary conclusion about whether or not there is extensive damage before replacing the oil pump if that is what it is.

1. Tow to shop.

2. Leakdown and compression test to judge any internal damage.

3. Test oil pressure

4. Diagnose problem.
