radiator and starting probs 87- 300E

The large hose to the driver's side side tank on my radiator was loose today. I pushed the hose on and tightened it some. Does the plastic fail with time? Better to get new tank or rebuild? Tank likely fairly old- I think it has been replaced 9 yrs and 190K miles ago(321K miles now.)

Also I have had failure to start after work 2 days in a row. Lights are bright but no crank. I wiggle the trans, put the key in and out, invoke the gods and then the engine cranks after several maneuvers. In the morning there is no problem. Is there a way to check the neutral safety switch with episodic problems?

Thanks

If it does not do anything in P, move the lever to N. If it starts, your neutral switch has gone south.

how to fix

The problem has occurred 2 more times. I did nothing more than move the trans to N both times and it started right away. How easy is it to fix? DIY? Part price?

Will the problem get worse or can I just move the trans to N? If the fix is hard can I wait a month until the next tech session?
