MB lock lube
what to use and where to get it.
Thanks in advance. Bernie |
There is a NAPA product based on graphite power that works very well. It really is a powder in a plastic tube. You hold the lock cover open with the key or a paper clip and blow some of this powder in.
This way you aren't putting an oily key back in your pocket when finished driving. Ken300D |
If you have an MB alarm system, don't use a graphite-based lube. Some who have done so have had frustrating problems with false alarms (the graphite conducts electricity and gets into the switch in the door lock).
MB does market its own lock lube which can be found at any MB dealer, or call 1-800-FOR MERC. |
Not sure about the newer cars, but most of the vintage Mercedes use a push switch in the door jamb to activate the alarm. Fortunately that's a long way from the lock cylinder.
