After sitting in traffic or leaving the car sitting with the engine running for a few minutes, the accelerator becomes hard to depress, and sticks down when depressed. What's the problem and how can it be fixed?

The plastic tab behind you gas pedal may be broken. This happened to mine and exhibited the same problems you are decribing. A new pedal runs around 10 dollars. It's very easy to replace it: just one clip at the base of the pedal and it's off...good luck.

Under the air cleaner, there is a ball bearing crank. It is toward the front and has 3 links on it. You have to take out the c-clip and clean and grease this. If you don't you will blow the engine up.

I own a 86 420SL (Type107) European Model.
I have a similar problem with a sticking throttle. It appears only when the car is hot and parked for some minutes. The pedal is hard to depress for the first time only. The throttle linkage is very well lubricated.
Best regards from Germany ...
Michael
