Brake shield w124 and strut rpl....

Trying to gey access to the outboard ends of the multi links and bushing on my 86 300E Sure would like to have the brake dust shield outta the way. I am also replacing the outer control arm bushing in the wheel casting, so any ideas on that would be great.... Does the wheel hub have to come off? BTW What size is the axle nut and what is the torque figure to get it back on? Thanks! PS Has anyone else who has replaced the rear suspension links noticed that one end of the caster stut(the shorter rod above the torque strut, second from bottom) is beefed up over the OEM part? Any interference problems?
