need help with idle

I am having a hard time bringing the idle down on my new engine. swapped out all components checked everything but it still idles at 1000. Does anyone have any suggestions. I can put up with a 1000 but would like to get it back to 750 - 800 where it belongs.....any ideas will be welcomed.....

420SEL? Have you checked throttle switch, it may give you steady 1000 rpm when no contact at idle. Throttle linkage may be sticking, IŽd check it first.
