89 300CE: Blown Head Gasket Confirmed

Well, now it's blowing white smoke through the tailpipe, and the oil is milky. I think I'll go ahead and do the work myself, and I do have a CD manual as reference (which I haven't looked at since I am in the middle moving and everything's a mess, not to mention that I'm getting married on X-mas day!!!).

For those who've done this, how long did it take and what else do I need to do while I'm at it? Is it possible to change the piston rings while I've got the head off?

I really like this car and would like to nurse it back to health.

Can someone give a brief summary of what they had to do to replace the head gasket, as well as which parts were replaced? I did a search already, but no has seem to have done this yet. Thanks!
