I have just completed a complete brake job on the 500E. Fully rebuilt calipers, pads, rotors. I now experience a soft pedal. Long travel on first application and then shorter travel and firmer feel on subsequent applications of the brakes. The brakes work fine, just the long pedal travel. I have pressure bled the brakes three times and set the front wheel bearings to spec. Any other things that I am missing? Would the master cylinder from a 600 sedan push a greater volume of fluid than the 92 500E? I have upgraded to the 600SL calipers. Did the late model 500E's use a different M cylinder? Any advice will be appreciated. Lou

It sounds like one of two things. You've still got some air somewhere in the system, or the master cylinder is not up to the change in the calipers. I do not know what interchanges or substitutes with what on those cars, but if it's different now then some part of the relationship in the braking system has changed. When they design these systems, all of the components are pretty well matched to each other. You may have stroked the calipers but didn't bore the master cylinder and ended up with a mismatch..
