Hello,

My 300E has 159K miles, the engine runs strong, but I'm curious on the rough idling and shaking after the engine cranks up.

Starting the car is no problem (only needs 1 sec to start the engine), the rough idling/shaking/hesitation last approx. 5-7 sec. After that the idle smooths out as if the engine wasn't running.

I've found out to prevent the problem during start ups is to apply a little gas, do you recommend this?

I've also noticed this same problem in my uncle's 89 and 90 190E 2.6..

Is there a way to get rid of this problem?

So, if anyone out there can assist Thanks!!!

This used to happen to my 1990 190E 2.6. The problem disappeared after I had the valve seals replaced. My guess is that the "shuddering" was caused by oil left in the cylinder that it needed to burn. Benzmac can probably confirm this.

This does happen often as well as the injection nozzles can bleed down. Both are known for this type of problem.

Thanks for replying JMike and Benzmac!!!

So Benzmac, I can get rid of the problem by replacing the valve seals and injector nozzles?

What if you have the injectors "cleaned"?
Will that help this problem?

Also what if you change the fuel filters?

I also have this problem... along with "cold" hard starting.
