87 190E: Blinking interior light ?!?!
This one amazed me: I went into a store last night (locked the car, interior overhead light in its usual position of on when doors open) when I came out and before I unlocked the car, the overhead interior light was blinking!?!
It continued to blink after unlocking and starting the car and driving it. Anyone encounter this one before? Haasman |
Nope but it sounds like dirty contacts...proberly a 10 min
job with a screwdriver and some tissue paper...he said never having even looked at the overhead light...:D Mike |
Thanks Mike,
Car hasn't done it since .... weird. I now realize there was some rain ... but it has been in the rain before and since. I was wondering last light whether the interior light is part of the alarm system? Haasman |
this is probably useless - but here you go
i had the rear, and sometimes front lights intermittantly flickering. put up with it for a week until i had time to search. turned out - after a long search - that the earth wire off the 'puddle' light in the door had come off - and somehow this had contacted with the door frame, causing the lights to come on and off. weird. |
On the 124, this is said to be the Seatbelt Buzzer Relay acting badly. I get that sometimes if I open just the passenger door when the car is off. Once in that state, I have to start car (initiate normal flash cycle) to clear it. I've also considered simply pulling the bulbs... but it does not happen very often.
