Bought '92 400E 97k mi. last august for $1.00. CASH ONLY! I guess the PO didn't trust me. Thanks Mom, happy mothers day. I turned them down at $8,000 which was a steel, but it's probably best I waited out. Oh yeah and I should probably mention it came with a busted antenna. (the mechanic said he'd probably rather have the $180.00, yeah I still would. Considering there is a receipt for $68,000 I doubt I could get it much more depreciated than a buck.

Dealer and loving owner mainained. Everyone who steps into the car is amazed at condition. I've found the flaws but it takes work. The car has been a blast, truly a machine to appreciate every day. The many hours on this websight have been wonderfull and helpfull as well. It could use(needs) some handling upgrades but "whadda ya want for a buck".

Happy motoring

1990 300E under $5k. Needed new rotors and a ball-joint. I think we did OK.

eBay purchase

I bought my 1995 E300D from a dealer off eBay last month. It had 80,000 miles, looked new inside & out, and I paid $10,600. The dealer had changed the oil, so I have driven the car 3000 miles and done nothing to it.

My mileage has been as low as 28+ (all in town), and as high as 32+ (all highway). Needless to say, I am one happy camper with this purchase. I think I got a tremendous deal.

Thanks to the good advice that I've read here while lurking, I plan to undertake oil change & all filters when they arrive via mail order.

This is great site and I appreciate everyone's knowledge.

Very good price on that E300D!

I think some of you guys need to look closer at eBay. I mean, I look at what some of our cars sell for there, especially the 300Es..

You can really get some deals on there.

model & price paid

1 year ago I bought a 1993 A124... sorry. That's a 300CE Convertible with 55,000 miles on it. One owner, California car. Nice condition though not 'perfect'. I paid $25,000 for it which I thought was a GREAT price.
It's white with black leather interior and black top. I can't stop smiling and drive it every day!

1987 Mercedes 300D with 200K for 2000 dollars..

I paid $2000 for a 1987 Mercedes 300D recently. Mileage about 200K.
Its not in brand new condition, its going to need some restoration, like ball joints, AC, brake calipers redone, all the stuff you have to do on a 200,000 mile car, but its got a basically healthy motor, interior, and transmission and very good paint.
Some people said I got it a low price, but from what I've been told, I could have found one for 1500.

I've been looking to replace my 1991 300E (65K) with a new Mercedes. However, my insurance would increase by 50%, my license plate cost would increase by more than $700, I'd have to pay about $4K for sales tax and then it would cost me my cherry 300E plus $45-$50K.

Guess what? Tomorrow morning I'm taking the 300E in to the dealer with instructions to service the transmission, differential, brake fluid and replace the O2 sensor, distributor cap and rotor.

Then I'm going to sit down with my wife and decide how we want to spend that huge amount of money we just saved.

You are a smarter man than most of us. Good decision and enjoy the 300e.

I paid $3850 for 1992 300E 104k miles on ebay.

Sold by a garage owner for a customer since customer didn't want to spend anymore money on it. Needed a couple minor things, radio, a/c recharge. Believe I got a good deal.

My first MB and love the nice smooth ride.
