engine rebuild -- remtec???
 

There is a company (in Florida i believe) who rebuilds engines such as a M104 from 3.2 to 2.6 similiar to AMG or Brabas. I may be misspelling their name and cannot find them on the net.

Anyone know how to locate them and any comments about their work.

BTW, going from 3.2 to 2.6 is hardly impressive unless it's 0-60 time :D

Renntech= big$$$. To rebuild a M104? If the car is a W124 you might be better off putting a M119 in it. Or just buying a 500E.

Thanks for the reference and advise on the $$. I have a 96 G320 with 170,000 miles. I have enough custom modes on it that I do not want to trade it on a V8 and not sure I want that engine and the other electronics with the newer chassie anyway. I also intent to drive it for another 100K or so and would like both more power and reliability of a newer engine. It goes to some places that are very far from MB mechanics.

All this seems to add up to a 3.6 (certianly not a 2.6) conversion. Brabus sold this version for very high dollars, but they are very hard to find.

Anyone have any other suggestion for an engine upgrade or who else would do the job for less money.

The more modifications/changes you make to the original car, the more potential there is for problems. If you want reliability stick with the basic power train. Generally speaking, with more power and faster speeds you'll get more breakdowns. Not good if you are not close to good service shops.
