I recently went to my MB dealer parts shop and asked them for some lubricant for a sun roof. They sold me some brake paste with the MB logo. Is this suitable for the task? If not, can anyone recommend a suitable lubricant for this purpose?
Thanks! |

M-B does offer a complex grease specifically for the sun roof - # 001 989 14 51 (approx. $20). Unfortunately, its not packaged for single use applications; one tub will last a very long time. As such, its typically a special order item, which may explain why the dealer offered you brake pad paste instead.
The SR grease is a lighter weight than the brake pad paste and being light tan colored is less noticeable than the paste's dark green. |

They sold me a large can of it, and I have 3 cars with sliding sun roofs so don't mind a moderate quanitity. Do you know off-hand what the differenc in weight between the brake paste and sun roof paste might be?
Thanks for the previous reply! ...tracy |
