87 190E Auto Trans Question

Can any one tell me if the torque converter should lock up/out at higher speeds? Right now, 80 mph = 4000 rpm. Been quite a few years since I've owned an a car w/auto trans, & 1st Benz.

Thanks in advance!!!

From my experience with our 190, that sounds correct (RPM/speed).

Thanks for the quick reply, Haasman. You don't know it, but you've been a big help with problems that have cropped up with this project.

Happy New Year!!

I may misunderstand the question, but that MB trans does not have a lock-up torque convertor.

Thanks for the info, Steve. I keep waiting for the thing to shift, but I can rest easy now knowing it won't.
