I replaced my front brake pads yesterday in about 1.5 hours. It was a pretty easy job, though I trashed all my sensors in the process, but they were pretty much toast anyway. I was curious about the rear brake pads, however. I went ahead and bought those as well, although I have not removed the rear wheels to check the wear. Are the rear pads the same as the front? My pathetic Haynes manual has little info on the rear brakes ('84 300D), but the pads I bought are much smaller than the front.

The rear pads are smaller; installation is identical to the front but the rear uses no pad wear sensors.

Mr. Benz, You should never turn MB rotors. Just get new ones, clean the protective coating off of them with a razor blade and some brake clean and slap them right on there! All there is to it! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '80 300SD '85 380SE '86 420SEL '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 '74 Jensen Interceptor Mk.III '81 DeLorean DMC12 '84 BMW 745i Turbo |
