What??? Meineke wouldn't do it?? They are the ones that did mine! What kinda crap is that? So long as you are doing nothing illegal (like cutting out cats), they should do whatever you tell them to do. I've had my center mufflers out since July and my car only runs just as well or better. |

mbtjc.. I was pretty surprised too.. The guy at Mineke was the one that went on about damaging the engine, and a possible lawsuit, yada yada yada.. I just hung up on him.. It was obvious he was better at arguing than I was.. :) The guy I talked to at Midas didn't seem to willing to change it from stock either.. He said he would look at it, but didn't know if he wanted te be responsible for removing the muffler.. Beats me.. It's not like I was asking to hollow out the cat.. |

Any updates on how the lack of the center muffler? What about noise? |

Glad I did it.. Yep, six months later, and all is well. Couldn't be happier. Quiet as ever, and will likely last for YEARS to come.. BTW, I gave an initial impression, and a parts list in a previous post in this thread.. Thanks for asking. Jay. |

Hmm.. I asked the exhaust shop how much it would cost to put in a pipe from the cat to the rear muffler and was told "probably couple hundred bucks". At that price.. there is no difference really in getting a center muffler or straight piping it. :( |

Keep in mind that I only took out the center muffler, and my flexible pipes are only about 2 feet long each. I don't know why you couldn't go longer with it though.. The Stainless tubing I bought from NAPA is pretty stout.. |

jay3000.. what tools did you use to accomplish this task? I am tool-handicap, so I would have to go out and buy them. |

i did mine my self. but i had some problems since the middle mounting points are at the edge of the mufflers. ventually i just left them straight piped. i have a turbo so it wouldn't soundas bad as a gasser is suppose. |

A lift woud be helpful. It's always harder working on your back, but it was easier than I thought.. The hardest part was having to go back to the parts store and get the adapters that I didn't count on. The pipes leading in to the muffler are slightly larger the the ones that exit.. |
