Buying a 94 E420
I am considering to buy this vehicle, 85k, but no service records:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2449889041&category=6335#ebayphotohosting Does it make sense to buy this car if it has no service records? Can you recommend some good repair stations in that area that could inspect this car. Thanks alot in advance. |
That price is to high for no service records. That interior is also ugly and it has ASR which will no doubt break. Just keep looking, you'll find one.

What would you guys think is a fair price for this car, given its condition is as described.

Picture quality is pretty poor to truly determine the vehicles description. Personally I wouldn't trust any dealers description of a vehicle, my personal experience has told me time and time again they lie.
Do a search on how to purchase a vehicle, if you follow all the guidelines it will provide you with a 90% probability of buying a good vehicle. Service records are extremely important on MB's, ask the selling dealer to get a VMI and service record history for the car through the dealer. If they don't provide either I'd walk away. |
I would pay 4k at the most. If you could take at to a mechanic to have it checked after the auction that would help out a lot, I don't think the seller will allow that since it is an auction.

That's exactly like my car, same color exterior, same color interior, same options. It has different wheels though..
I could go take a look at it if you want to and just give you my opinion of the car and how it looks. Natick is really close to Foreign Motors West, an authorized MB dealer. A head mechanic there owns a 500E so he'd be a good person to look it over. www.foreignmotorswest.com It's not that far from Hatch and Sons either www.hatchandsons.com I'm sure they could both do a thorough inspection of the car! I like the interior color but I'm biased ;) I have asked these guys questions before and never once did they bother to reply... maybe you can try though. and yes.. I don't trust anyone's description of a nice car. Different people have different understanding of a car's condition. Besides dealers always tell you that these cars are nice on the phone especially. |
