Does the vin# have the build date of my car? Does anyone have a legend to read VIN#'s?

How are we to know what car you got?

There should be a sticker in the driver door jamb with the month and year of manufacture.

You can use the VIN to determine the build date using the appropriate resource but the VIN itself doesn't contain the build date. It might have a code with the model year in some cases.

I believe the Mercedes Benz Buyer's Guide by Frank Barrett has a section in the back that explains the VIN numbers over the past several decades, e.g. 14 digit, 17 digit, etc.
