Euro headers

I've searched the forum about euro headers and everyone says to go to DEPO or Puma to get the headers, for my 1988 560SEL

Where do you find these companies?? They dont seem to have websites or anything. I can't find them, can anybody help??

Ebay is the first place to look for euro lights. Stay away from a seller named ladymb57, I've heard too many bad comments about her products and shipping.

I believe your engine has split manifolds on each side with two down pipes - effectively making them "tri-wye" headers, and I doubt if an aftermarket header, especially a four-into-one will result in any improvement, and they are likely to be a lot less reliable - longevity, bolt retention, etc.

I know the earlier 4.5 V-8s had this exhaust arrangement. Not sure about the 5.6, but even if it doesn't, headers are not likely to be of much benefit. To be effective headers need more valve overlap than most OE cams have, and to be effective in the rev range of you engine, the primary pipes on a four-into-one need to be at least 36" long. Most aftermarket headers have primaries that are too short for the production cams and rev range.

Send a PM to eurocoupe, he has connections for M117 euro headers, etc.

Also, www.puma-access.com

Unlike American cars, the original exhaust systems on all MB's are EXTREMELY efficient and well matched to the engine application. Therefore, again unlike American cars, there is little or no gain to be had from aftermarket exhaust components.

The reason these systems, as well as any other MB components related to breathing, are so efficient, is that in Germany, cars are taxed based on engine size. This being the case, the manufacturers work toward maximum horsepower from minimum displacement.

Happy New Year,
