if i spray my engine down with a hose what damage can i do. and when ive done it the next couple starts are hard and like it losses power and sttarts what am i doing wrong.

On your gasoline engines, perhaps you're getting moisture into the distibutor cap, which would give you starting problems. I remember this happening to my Mom's Toyota when I was a little kid. The mechanic took off the distibutor cap, coated the inside with gasoline, then lit it with a match. That must have eradicated the moisture, because the car started right up. However, I'm not advocating this procedure, mind you!

You guys actually spray down your engines w/ a hose when you wash the car??? Doesn't that kill the engine???

B500 - this is a shortsighted habit! Get your engine steamed at an environmentally-friendly facility - it will do less damage to your engine, the results will be 1000% better and it's not expensive. Plus, you won't be soaking the ground (read: your and every other living thing's groundwater) with harmful pollutants and poisons.

down here theres no laws aginst it i had to get it to cool down so i did this it was around 110c and i was 5 hours away from where i need to be in 31/2 hours.

Be careful about steam cleaning an engine.
You can get too much of a good thing.
If you go overboard and steam clean it too often you could cause damage to the seals and gaskets.
