MRP Engineering Sport Shifter. Anyone Got one?

I was wondering if its worth the money to get a new
manual gear shift. The standard action is long and slightly "vague" and this (at bottom of page)

http://www.mrp-engineering.com/pages/7/index.htm

promises an improvment. I was in touch with the company and they said by return -

Quote:
The shifter eliminates the play in the shifter assembly by
repalcing the soft rubber bushing with custom self
lubricating bronze bushings. The shift is shortened and a
crisper feel without the mushy stock shifter feel. The
shifter is upright with a new shorten shifter made of tool
steel.
So does anyone here have one and is it any good?

Mike.

Quite a few W201 owners at www.190revolution.net have converted, and I haven't heard any complaints to date.

Got two. First went into a 300E 5 spd conversion. As you say, the shift throw was "long". 2nd went into a high mileage 190D whose shifter was well worn (throw was not bad). I opted for rebuild of both my shifters by MRP (around $150/ea) as I didn't need to learn how to dissasemble/assemble 2 shifters in my lifetime (look in the parts book :-). Hanno

Sounds promising! And with the current exchange rate cheap too. Now I just need to find out if there is a
difference between left and right hand drive gear shifts...
