1991 300e...no heat, no blower...help!
 

While driving, my check engine light came on for 30 seconds or so and then went out. I then realized that my blower was not blowing at all...high, low, or auto. I am not getting fresh air out of the center vent either. However, I am getting a little heat blowing out the defrost vents and the two side vents, but I cannot regulate the air flow speed or the temp (it's just hot).

I will be first checking the fuse (when I find it, it is not in the regular fuse panel). But if this is ok, what can I do to check the individual components in the system to try to narrow things down?

someone else will know about the other stuff, but the fuse is located infront of the main fuse box in a little plastic black 'coffin', that unclips.

you might wiggle the key while in the "on" position. could be the ignition switch is worn and not turning that circuit on. move the key between "start" and "off" slowly and maybe the blower will come on. good luck, chuck.

Check the fuse for the climate control in the main fusebox, too -- if it is bad (most likely just died of old age), replace it and see if the CC works. It defaults to dash vents, full heat if the fuse is bad, usually has only low speed fan.

If that fuse died of old age (cracked, or corroded), you should probably replace all the fuses since they will all be in the same shape. Common problem with the "bullet" fuses.

Could be the blower regulator. Located under blower motor. Check to see if the blower motor works by hooking the motor directly to the battery. If the blower motor works and all the fuses others have referenced are good, chances are the blower regulator.

I'm leaning towards the ignition switch at this time. Of course it is too cold to fix anything...

I'm with Chuck and CSnow on this one. I bet it's the ignition switch. Having changed mine so the blower would work again, i have the key for each of my vehicles on its own ring. The current fashion trend of key chains with 2 pounds of stuff hanging off them will ruin more than a few ignition switches prematurely.

I, on the other hand, vote for a bad fuse, since I've had this happen on two cars in the last year.

Ah Ha..figured it out!
 

It was the bullet fuse for the CC after all!

At first look it appeared to be fine, but after merely touching it the thing broke apart. I have now changed all the fuses. Thanks!
