Dead Climate Control: 190e
Hey,
I have an 88 190e 2.3 with a climate control issue. When I first start the car the heater, a/c, defrost, etc... all work fine for about 15 seconds and then the system dies, until the car is restarted when it will work...again for 10 seconds. When the heat is working and the car is warm, the heat still blows cold. I have checked the ignition switch, fusible link, and the vaccum lines near the blower (under the cowl) all to no avail. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appriciated. |

Do a forum search on the subject, and trouble shoot further. There is a ton of information available in the archives.

Are you sure that you have no vacuum leaks and that the ignition switch is good? At first thought I would think that the ignition switch could be acting up?
I do not know if this would give you systems like this but have you checked teh Klima Relay? Pull it out and open it up and see if there are any cracks or not in the soldered conections? Also, I do not know if it is realated but what about the interior ambient temperature sensor? Is the intake clean, is the sensor good? Iggy P.S. I am not an expert, I just ahve gone through all of this before on my car. Also have you checked to see if the push button control box in teh consul is good?

I also am no expert at this system.
Here is a Programa site page. Programa is a premier rebuilder of import electronics, you will find some of their products in Fastlane. Find your Climate Control P/N and download technical troubleshooting info. http://www.programainc.com/?go=technical_support&v=3 Vacuum is very important in this system. The Auxilary Coolant Pump should be disconnected or fused, if it over draws current it will take out the Climate Control.
