the window goes up and up

my 86 300e drivers window just started making noise( the wife said). it sounds like the motor doesnt hit the kick out and will keep tring to go up? is it the motor or the switch, thanks

I bet the switch. Get it cleaned out before you burn up the motor. Use switch cleaner (Radio Shaq?) if you can get hold odf some. I use a SMALL amount of WD40 on mine a few years back and no problems. It was stuck in the off position, however.

I agree. Especially the console switch(es). Lots of opportunity for debris and dirt to gum up the works.

I agree, check the switch first.

I agree, check the switch first. I had similar problems and changed ALL of the switches w/new ones & I cleaned out the center console.

Try replacing it with a new one (fairly cheap), if you don't want to spend money on a new one, clean it or just replace it with the switch for the rear windows (The rear windows won't properly, but at least the driver will be comfortable). This would just be a temporary fix until you can find a used one.

Good luck
