I would like to know where the aux fan resistor is located on a 190 16 valve. I have seen several posts regarding bypassing the resistor to increase the aux fan speed. What fuse can be used once the resistor is bypassed? How long does this resistor last before replacing? Thanks, Joe

On frame rail next to p/steering pump. By-passing the resistor will allow a/c switch to run fan at hi speed. Look for white ceramic about 2" long with phillips screws securing wires.

MBDOC: Do these resistors go bad? How can you tell if they are bad? Mine is not cracked but it is a little discolored from age. Thanks, Joe

Does your fan come on w/A-C operation? If so then the resistor is still good. Yes many of these fail, but I thought you wanted to improve airflow foe better A/C.

MB Doc:
So then all you have to do is to join both ends of the wires from the ends of the resistor. How fast does the fan run at that point? Does it go only to the high speed and not the low speed? Thanks, Joe
