99 E320 power window switch
First, let me say that I have searched the old postings and have not found the answer to my problem.
My drivers power window switch is not working properly. It works intermittently. I think the electrical connection need to be cleaned. HOW DO I GET THE BURLWOOD PANEL OFF THE CONSOLE TO GET TO THE SWITCHES ???? I have looked at the power window u-shaped switch assembly at the dealership and it appears that each switch can be accessed by popping the top of the switch off. Is that correct? Is it like my 84 300SD where each door window switch can be cleaned and reassembled??? The graphics at the dealership did not help me and the dealership does not stock the burlwood panel so I could see the fastener system. Thanking you, in advance, for your assistance. Mike |
I've not had much sucess cleaning them however, its worth a shot. Now, removal. put it in nuetral (set the e-brake ok?) pull the black plastic off around the shifter base, grasp the wood firmly and pull upwards. (I open the cupholder and tug it from there) There ya go, unplug it and look for the locking tabs that hold it to the wood.

Have you checked the manual on how to reset auto-up on your windows. It is on page 70-71 of my 98 manual. My windows were not working right. I was pushing the switch too hard and the switches had to be reset. This is due sometimes to battery disconnect.

New Battery
Thanks Ready-Ronnie,
That may be the problem. I just put in a new battery the day before. I will check it. Thanks, Mike |
